Region 8 Updates

Level 6, 7 & 8 Regionals – The Region 8 Committee voted to add more level 6 & 7 athletes and reduce the number of level 8 athletes that will qualify to the Level 6, 7 & 8 Regional in 2018.

The Level 6, 7 & 8 Regional meet will be set up as follows

  • Friday – Gym A: 3 sessions of Level 8’s
    Gym B: 3 sessions of Level 7’s
(the level 7 State Team will compete on Friday night)
  • Saturday – Gym A: 3 sessions of level 8’s
(the level 8 State Team will compete on Saturday night)
  • Gym B: 3 sessions of level 7’s
  • Sunday – ALL Level 6
  • Gym A: 3 sessions of level 6
(the level 6 State Team will compete on Sunday night)
  • Gym B: 2 sessions of level 6

Athletes will qualify by percentage from the State meets to the regional meet.

Xcel Regionals

Qualifying scores for 2018 XCEL regionals (achieved at the STATE meet)

Bronze – 37.00 AA
Silver – 36.50 AA
Gold – 36.00 AA
Platinum – 35.50 AA
Diamond – 35.00 AA

We anticipate that the XCEL 2018 regional meet will begin at 8:00am on THURSDAY.

Level 9 & 10 Regionals

Level 9/10 Regional score will remain at 35.00 AA.

2019 Xcel Regionals

CHANGE IN FORMAT FOR XCEL REGIONAL MEET FOR 2019 – Due to the length of the XCEL regional meet the Regional committee discussed how we could limit the number of athletes. The regional committee voted that the Bronze division would be eliminated from the regional competition in 2019. We hope that this will keep the meet to 3 days – If this does not work then other options will be considered.

Committee Minutes from May Meetings

It is your responsibility as a coach or a judge to be up to date on all rules and rule changes. Links to minutes from May JO, Technical, Xcel, and Administrative Committee Meetings are below.

JO
Technical
Xcel
Administrative

While you need to read all of the minutes, here are a few highlights.

NEW MOBILITY SCORES – EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2017 As you may know mobility scores were raised for the JO program effective August 1st

Level 4 to Level 5 – 34.00AA
Level 5 to level 6 or 7 – 32.00AA
Level 6 to level 7 – 32.00AA
Level 7 to Level 8 – 32.00AA

After August 1st all athletes will need to achieve the above mobility scores to move from level to level, however all mobility scores from the 2016-17 season that were achieved before August 1st may be used to move up an athlete – so yes, you can host mobility meets before August 1st achieve the 31.00AA mobility score (old score) and then move your athlete up to the next level and/or you may use your scores achieved from any sanctioned meet that your athletes competed in during 2016-17 season to move your athletes to next level.

After August 1st the new scores will be in effect. ALL athletes that enter a sanctioned meet after August 1st MUST achieve the new mobility score
To clarify: Your Level 4 athlete scored a 32.50 last season in an invitational achieving the 31.00 AA score that was required before July 31st. That athlete is eligible to enter into level 5 using the previous mobility score. HOWEVER if you decide to enter that same athlete in a competition at level 4 after August 1st, the mobility score from last year is no longer valid and she MUST achieve the new mobility score to move to Level 5.

XCEL athletes – as there is no mobility from XCEL into JO levels – any XCEL athlete that wants to move into the JO program must achieve mobility scores starting at level 4.

JUDGES UPDATE:
Report time: Judges will be paid starting with the report time. Any judge who does not report within 5 minutes of the scheduled report time will be compensated from the first scheduled march in, not the report time so you will lose a minimum of 30 minutes from your check.
REPORT means that you report to the Meet Referee in the judging room, in uniform, ready to judge.

Safe Sport Course

All professional members (judges and coaches) as well as introductory members that are 18 years or older will be required to take Safe Sport Course. The course is FREE and available online HERE. It takes about 2 hours to complete. This course will become mandatory to be a professional member. I strongly suggest that you take the course as soon as you can.
